Colossians was my mother’s favorite book of the Bible. I don’t know exactly why because I never asked her. But there was something about this book, this letter of Paul, that appealed deeply to my mother’s soul. And she was someone who read the Bible faithfully, every day, for most of her 91 years on planet earth. I suspect it was the supremacy of Christ in this little letter that appealed to my mother more than anything else. It might be said that in this letter, more than any other, Paul presents Christ Jesus as supreme. Perhaps as we study this book together, Colossians will become your favorite book of the Bible.
