It was a thoroughly delightful time this past Wednesday night, speaking to the Southern California C. S. Lewis Society about the spiritual themes in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and signing copies of my new book, The Hidden Story of Narnia.
Pictured above is me with Sonny Salsbury, the man who was my youth pastor during the days when I was growing up at La Jolla Presbyterian Church in La Jolla, California. This was the first time that Sonny and I were able to meet in over 25 years. What a great time!
Sonny is one of the biggest Narnia fans I know. He deepened my interest in C. S. Lewis and Narnia during my days in junior high and high school. Sonny opened the evening with the C. S. Lewis Society by singing his song Aslan is Near. Special thanks to my hosts, Doug and Martha Beyer who provided accommodation, and to Edie Dougherty who provided transportation. It's wonderful to have such good friends, old and new, in California.
As I leave to return home I leave you with one nice photo from my visit, on this trip, to my old hometown of La Jolla....
Next stop on the Hidden Story of Narnia Book Tour: Indianapolis, on Monday night, November 1. Check out my web site for more info: www.willvaus.com/events.
